SRI LANKA ~Temple of Tooth-UNESCO~

...A great new addition for my Sri Lanka collection...An amazing inside view of one of the most holiest shrines for Budhist people in the entire world...It has such a spiritual feeling...
And I love the legend about it: The tooth was taken from Budha as he lay on his funeral pyre. It was smuggled to Sri lanka in 313 AD, hidden in the hair of Princess Hemamali...A great story...
Thanks a lot Ravindra!!

For a change two nice but "tiny"^__^ defenitive stamps:
Moonstones, Guard stones and Balustrades stamps.

This  stunning 17th-C Temple of Tooth (Sri Dalada Maligawa) located in Kandy is the country's most celebrated cultural site and is believed to house the left upper canine tooth of the Lord Budha himself. This precious relic attracts white-clad pilgrims, bearing lotus blossoms and frangipani every day.

Since ancient times, the relic has played an important role in local politics because it is believed that whoever holds the relic holds the governance of the country.
