Thingvellir National Park is located in southwestern Iceland. It  is a site of historical, cultural, and geological importance and is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Iceland.

It is the site of a rift valley that marks the crest of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge. It is also home to Þingvallavatn, the largest natural lake in Iceland.

Flosagja (Flosi's Gorge), gorge filled with water in the lava fields between the European and American tectonic plates. It extends for 800 meters and is all of 25 meters deep.

Thingvellir was accepted on the World Heritage list for its cultural values in 2004.
