Chundikkulam National Park is situated in northern Sri Lanka,
Chundikkulam Lagoon and its surrounding area was designated as a bird sanctuary on 25 February 1938 and became a national park on 22 June 2015 with an area of 19,565 ha.
The greater flamingo is the most widespread species of the flamingo family. It is found in Africa, Indian subcontinent, the Middle East and southern Europe.This is the largest species of flamingo.
