SRI LANKA ~ Queen's Tower-Delft National Park ~

... And here great postcard nr7... a strange looking square chimney-like tower... a remnant of the bygone colonial era when the island was an important outpost for the Portuguese and Dutch... dating back to the 16th century... Big Thanks once more Ravindra!!(✿ ♥‿♥)

Delft island is situated in the Palk Strait, northern Sri Lanka.  It is the biggest of the seven inhabitable islands. This 8km long and 6km wide island is basically flat and surrounded by shallow waters and sandy beaches.

The Queen's Tower is a tower built by Dutch during their rule in Sri Lanka. It was used as a navigation point by the Dutch and British.

Delft became a national park on 22 June 2015 with an area of 1,846 ha.
