ETHIOPIA ~ Nyala - Bale Mountains National Park - UNESCO (tentative) ~

... African beauty nr2... one of the highest parks in Africa... a remote and little-visited National Park and biodiversity hotspot... home to many unique flora and fauna species... several endemic species of mammal as the Mountain Nyala, Simien fox and Ethiopian Wolf...  the most endangered carnivore in Africa and the most endangered canid in the world... with also wonderful stamps... Big Thanks Hobby for these two amazing new National Parks!!【ツ】

This National Park protects over 2,200km² of pristine plains, woodlands and bush land.

The high altitude, afro-montane Sanetti Plateau rises to over 4,000m and includes the highest peak in the southern Ethiopia highlands, the Tullu Deemtu.

Bale is the last main stronghold for the endangered mountain Nyala, a large spiral-horned antelope most often seen on the short walking trail that runs through the juniper-hagenia forest around the park headquarters at Dinsho.

Nominated as a tentative UNESCO Natural World Heritage Site in 2009.
